hover_enabled=&#8221;0&#8243; sticky_enabled=&#8221;0&#8243;]<\/p>\n<p>Attendees of this year&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/mnceg.org\/\">Minnesota Chief Engineers Guild (MNCEG)<\/a> Annual Conference and Tradeshow participated in hands-on activities to identify the leadership traits necessary to manage a public facility, including workplace politics, culture, retention, recruitment, and training leaders.<\/p>\n<p>And yes, they practiced these skills using duct tape!<\/p>\n<p>[\/et_pb_text][\/et_pb_column][\/et_pb_row][et_pb_row _builder_version=&#8221;4.17.4&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221; theme_builder_area=&#8221;post_content&#8221; hover_enabled=&#8221;0&#8243; sticky_enabled=&#8221;0&#8243;]<\/p>\n<p>Presenters Brad Kramer and Kris Langworthy partnered to share the critical importance of combining safety with leadership skills.<\/p>\n<p>[\/et_pb_text][et_pb_testimonial _builder_version=&#8221;4.17.4&#8243; job_title=&#8221;Owner&#8221; company_name=&#8221;Provenio Consulting &#8221; custom_padding=&#8221;||||false|false&#8221; custom_margin=&#8221;||20px||false|false&#8221;]<\/p>\n<p>Safety and leadership are so intertwined that you can hardly have one without the other in a workplace.<\/p>\n<p>Rather than just talking leadership, we decided to break out some duct tape to have fun while demonstrating how leadership and safety skills help businesses retain and recruit employees, mentor the next generation, and shine light on how different people are motivated, among other skills.<\/p>\n<p>I knew we\u2019d see some fun bridge designs when we gave a roomful of professionals with strong mechanical skills some materials and a competition!<\/p>\n<p>[\/et_pb_testimonial][et_pb_text _builder_version=&#8221;4.17.4&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221; theme_builder_area=&#8221;post_content&#8221; hover_enabled=&#8221;0&#8243; sticky_enabled=&#8221;0&#8243;]<\/p>\n<p>Attendees were challenged to build a bridge using only popsicle sticks and duct tape.<\/p>\n<p>Each bridge was put to the strength test and correlations were made between the technical skills and leadership building skills.<\/p>\n<p>[\/et_pb_text][\/et_pb_column][\/et_pb_row][et_pb_row _builder_version=&#8221;4.17.4&#8243; hover_enabled=&#8221;0&#8243; sticky_enabled=&#8221;0&#8243;]<\/p>\n<p>The teams discussed:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>What caused your team to &#8220;stick together&#8221;?<\/li>\n<li>Who rose to take the leadership role, and how did they use their \u201csticky or shiny sides\u201d to communicate in influential ways?<\/li>\n<li>Who were the \u201cstrings on your team\u201d (like the strings in duct tape) that gave it strength, and how did you leverage their strengths?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>[\/et_pb_text][\/et_pb_column][et_pb_column _builder_version=&#8221;4.17.4&#8243;
