Meet Talan Memmott, a professor of Mass Communication at Winona State University.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Dr. Memmott is the founder of the <\/span>Creative Digital Media program<\/span><\/a> at Winona State\u2014and recently an artist featured in a University of California Berkeley exhibition.<\/span><\/p>\n

Before joining WSU, Dr. Memmott taught and developed academic programs all over the country\u2014from Georgia to Colorado to California\u2014and even abroad in Sweden.<\/p>\n

Then in 2017, he took what he learned from other institutions and created what is now Winona State\u2019s Creative Digital Media (CDM) program.<\/p>\n

He enjoys teaching at WSU the most, and he\u2019s proud of how much the program has grown since then.<\/p>\n

His favorite part about teaching at Winona State is seeing students\u2019 breakthrough, or \u201ceureka,\u201d moments and building solid relationships with them.<\/p>\n

He says that CDM students often inspire his own creative work.<\/p>\n

Dr. Memmott\u2019s fight with throat cancer also influences his work in representing disability. Many of his digital media and mass communication projects creatively expose throat cancer for what it is and raise awareness for the disease.<\/p>\n
