Meet Dr. Amy Hornby Uribe: <\/span>a Spanish professor, an educator for future world language teachers, and Department Chair of Winona State\u2019s<\/span> Global Studies & World Languages Department<\/span><\/a>.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Amy is widely recognized on campus as a kind, caring, and valued member of the community who encourages and empowers students\u2014especially those who are underserved<\/span>.\u00a0 <\/span><\/p>\n

In the early years of her career, Amy Hornby Uribe taught Spanish to middle and high school students.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

When she was given the opportunity to earn a graduate degree\u2014fully funded\u2014and teach at the college level, she couldn\u2019t pass it up.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Although she missed her younger students, Amy was driven to train aspiring middle and high school teachers to \u201cchange the world through the profession.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Now, Amy is entering her 13th year of teaching at Winona State. Her favorite part of her job is interacting with her students:\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWhenever I\u2019m having kind of a bad day or a bad week, just going to class and being with my students gives me energy.\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
