Winona State University recently hosted 2 successful BizTalk events, continuing its commitment to bring together regional business leaders for meaningful, solutions\u2011focused conversations about today\u2019s most pressing workplace challenges.<\/p>\n
Designed to foster dialogue, connection, and practical learning, BizTalk events provide participants with insights they can immediately apply within their organizations.<\/p>\n

The first BizTalk, held in November at the Winona Family YMCA, centered on the theme \u201cHealthy Employees, Stronger Businesses.\u201d<\/p>\n
Hosted in partnership with the YMCA, this session focused on workforce retention and employee well\u2011being\u20142 critical concerns for employers navigating workforce shortages and evolving employee expectations.<\/p>\n
Janneke Sobeck, CEO of the Winona Family YMCA, along with members of her leadership team, led a collaborative discussion on how supporting employee wellness can directly impact retention, engagement, and productivity.<\/p>\n
Attendees explored practical strategies employers can implement to support both physical and mental well\u2011being, while also discussing the broader business case for investing in employee health.<\/p>\n
The session emphasized that wellness initiatives are no longer \u201cnice to have,\u201d but essential components of a resilient and sustainable workforce.<\/p>\n
Peer\u2011to\u2011peer conversation played a key role, allowing business professionals to share challenges, exchange ideas, and learn from others facing similar workforce issues.<\/p>\n
Participants left with a deeper understanding of how creating a culture of wellness strengthens not only employees but also business outcomes.<\/p>\n

This morning session brought together area leaders for coffee, connection, and an engaging discussion led by Cat Breet and Kristine Valk of Merchants Bank.<\/p>\n
The conversation centered on navigating high\u2011stakes workplace discussions\u2014those moments when opinions differ, emotions run strong, and trust is on the line.<\/p>\n
Drawing from Merchants Bank\u2019s experience with its \u201cI Believe Leadership\u201d program, developed in partnership with Winona State, the presenters shared strategies for approaching difficult conversations with clarity, confidence, and calm.<\/p>\n
Attendees explored how intentional communication can turn challenging discussions into opportunities for growth, stronger relationships, and improved teamwork.<\/p>\n
The session reinforced the idea that how leaders show up in critical moments can significantly influence culture and results.<\/p>\n
