Welcome Week 2019: A Snapshot of Campus Life
How to Apply for Housing
Thinking about living on campus? Don’t wait!
The sooner you complete your application, the more likely you’ll get the hall and room you prefer – especially for high-demand suite-style units in Haake and Kirkland Hall.
These are the basic steps to sign up for on-campus housing. Get all the details about the housing process .
1. Start Your Application
Access your Housing Portal through Student eServices.
- Login with your StarID and password.
- Choose “Housing & Dining” in the left hand tool bar.
- You will be prompted to re-enter your StarID and password.
Once you are logged into your Housing Portal, click on “Housing Application” to begin the application process.
2. Submit Your $250 Pre-Payment to Guarantee Your Spot
To complete the housing application, you will have to sign the Agreement for Housing & Dining and submit a $250 pre-payment.
Only once this payment is received will we guarantee you a space in one of our residence halls.
The Agreement will be available within the application in your Housing Portal.
3. Request a Roommate
From March 1-31, you can use the roommate request feature within your application by logging into your Housing Portal through Student eServices.
Due to COVID-19, most room-types will be single occupancy for 2021-2022.
This means we can’t guarantee that you’ll have a roommate.
If you only have the option for a single room, you and your preferred roommate can select single rooms next to each other or on the same hall floor.
4. Choose Your Room
If you submit your application and pre-payment by May 1, you will get an email in May or early June with a time-slot to select your room.
During this time-slot, you’ll be able to access the room selection portion of your application on your Housing Portal.
From there, you can filter preferences based on what hall or type of room you would like to live in.
If you miss the May 1 deadline, you will be assigned a room in mid-June.
You’ll be notified of your room assignment via your WSU e-mail address or you can view this information on your Housing Portal.

With so many student clubs, it’s easy to make friends while having fun and exploring interests outside the classroom.
WSU has clubs for community service, Greek life, academic majors, special interests and cultural groups so there’s sure to be something for everyone.
And if there isn’t, you can start your own club!

Play with Intramurals & Sports Clubs
When you head to college, you don’t have to say goodbye to the fun and friendship of high school sports.
Intramural sports are friendly games between other WSU students. There are teams for basketball, soccer, volleyball, football and softball– and you don’t have to be an athlete to play.
If you’re more on the competitive side, then club sports might be just what you are looking for.
Club sports teams travel to compete against other colleges and have their own championship tournaments.
I can’t tell you about every club we have here at Winona State, but I can give you some very good reasons for one of the university’s more popular activities–intramural sports….
