East Lake Apartments
East Lake Apartments are located approximately 4 blocks (or roughly a 12-minute walk) east of Main Campus.
East Lake features apartment-style units that include a private kitchen, common area, bathroom, and laundry facility.
Located across from Lake Winona and the majestic Sugar Loaf Bluff, these 4 buildings have the perfect view all year-round. You’re also just minutes away from the biking and walking trails around the lake.
These apartments are a great choice for students who want both the independence of living off campus and the convenience of accessing campus housing amenities. In other words, East Lake is our housing option that lies between traditional residence halls and independent apartment or house rentals.
One of the many perks of living in East Lake is that you don’t need to worry about monthly bills or deal with multiple utility companies. All utilities are included in the cost, which is applied to your student account each semester.
And for all our students who prefer to study or simply relax in their own space, the apartment layout gives East Lake a fairly quiet atmosphere.
East Lake Apartments primarily house upper-level students. All 4 buildings are co-ed, but individual apartment units are single-gendered per our housing policies. However, gender inclusive housing is available for upper-level students.

Front Desk & Mail Area
The front desk for the East Lake Apartments is located in Building C.
At the front desk, students living in any of the 4 buildings can use their Warrior ID to check-out kitchen equipment, board games, DVDs, basic tools, jumper cables, and more.
This is also the area where you’ll check in yourself or guests who plan to stay in your room overnight. Please stay up to date on housing policies to ensure you aren’t in violation.
The entryways in East Lake Apartments also include the mail area, where students living in each apartment building get their mail and access other resources.
You can pick up any packages you receive that can’t fit inside your mailbox behind the front desk. You’ll get an email notifying you that you have a package waiting for pickup.
The East Lake staff also tend to host fun events in this area throughout the year for you to meet other students in the buildings and to stay connected to campus opportunities.
Once you have an East Lake Apartment assignment, you can follow the East Lake Apartments Facebook group to stay on top of upcoming events.

Kitchen
Each East Lake unit has a full kitchen that includes a refrigerator, stove, microwave, dishwasher, sink, and garbage disposal.
There’s also plenty of cupboards for extra storage as well as counterspace for food preparation.
And with a small bar top and stools setup, this kitchen is perfect for entertaining guests.
We encourage you to bring your own kitchen equipment.
However, you can check-out anything you don’t bring during move-in at the front desk of your building.

Common Area & Lounges
Every East Lake Apartment unit also includes a private common area that’s fully furnished, meaning you don’t have to buy furniture and haul it all away when you’re ready to move again.
Take a catnap on the comfy couch or chairs between your classes and study sessions.
On the coffee table or 2 end tables, you can host a board game tournament with your roommates.
Check-out games and DVDs at the front desk using your Warrior ID. There’s also a work out room in Building D.
If you want to switch up your study space, there are also multiple study lounges located around each East Lake building for you to check out.

Laundry
Neatly hidden within a closet in each East Lake Apartment unit is a private washer and dryer where you can do your laundry for free.
Rather than sharing washer and dryer units with an entire floor or residence hall, East Lake residents only have to share their washer and dryer with their roommates.
Don’t forget your detergent and dryer sheets!

Parking & Transportation
East Lake students who choose to bring a vehicle to campus have the option to park in the parking lot conveniently located in front of the four buildings.
If you’re interested in parking here, you need to purchase a parking permit from Parking Services.
Otherwise, if you don’t plan on bringing a vehicle, no sweat. Whenever you need to go to Main Campus, you can catch a ride on the WSU Shuttle for free.
This shuttle picks up and drops off students on both Main Campus and East Lake multiple times throughout the day, night, and even on weekends. Make sure to stay on top of the shuttle schedule (PDF).

24/7 Security & Controlled Door Access
To maintain your safety, only students who live in East Lake Apartments can use their Warrior IDs to enter the buildings.
That means students living in other residence halls or guests must have an East Lake resident accompany and escort them to and from the buildings when visiting.
