When I chose to attend Winona State University, I knew that the cost was affordable, and the location was beautiful. What I didn’t realize until I stepped foot on campus on day one was that the diversity of students, programs, extracurricular activities, and clubs were going to prepare me for entering the world with a more worldly view.<\/p>\n

I am proud to be an alum of WSU and encourage prospective students to ask about the culture of the campus in addition to what they read in the pamphlet.<\/p>\n

WSU helped me gain life-long friends, a great career, once-in-a-lifetime trips, professional help from involved professors, and my faith. I was able to balance working as an RA for two years, running cross country for a year– all while keeping my grades up– because of all the support I received.<\/p>\n

There were so many ways to get involved, and gain experience through volunteering. I look back in my time at WSU as one of the most enjoyable parts of my life (and I live Italy at the moment!).<\/p>\n

WSU was more affordable for me to attend than going to my in-state options in Illinois\u2026The Recreation Tourism and Therapeutic Recreation program is comparable to none. Roger Riley is the best teacher I\u2019ve ever had because he has worked in so many areas that his assignments are all relatable to real life.<\/p>\n

My experience at WSU was so important in learning about myself and growing into the person I am today. I was challenged and encouraged to think critically and mindfully, and to me, those skills are valuable in any career.<\/p>\n

I was very lucky to work among thoughtful, ambitious classmates and to learn from intelligent, supportive, savvy and creative staff. I was fortunate enough to participate in a couple travel study programs and the experiences I’ve gained from those trips is immeasurable. I want to come back and do it all over again!<\/p>\n

WSU was life-changing for me. I had come from a small town and had never felt like I fit in. At WSU, I learned so much about what I was capable of, who I could become, and what I could do to get where I wanted to go.<\/p>\n

WSU offered opportunities and a rigorous education that excited me and gave me a sense of fulfillment. I found amazing friends and professors who cared about my studies and my future. WSU felt like home, one that I still miss to this day. I’m proud of who I am and proud to be a Warrior!<\/p>\n

To this day, I still reach out to my professors for guidance, and they have reached out to me to support current WSU students. The sense of community is strong, and is not limited to student-student relationships, but transfers to professor-student, advisor-student, and even president-student.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The academic and social education I received at WSU gave me the foundation to become a successful, contributing member to society. Without my professors pushing me to follow my dreams and showing how much they believed in me as a WSU student, I would not be the person I am today and that is the real truth.<\/p>\n
