Let’s pretend the random snowstorms aren’t happening and call it spring. If you’ve had any time to explore the blossoming campus, you might have noticed that WSU has made some upgrades to help students who want to use forms of transportation other than their cars to get to and from campus.

Bike Repair Station

WSU has added a new bike repair station! It’s located right across from the main doors of the SLC

The station is a large purple pole standing next to the current bike rack. It has a host of tools and acts as a stand for you to set your bike on while making repairs.

It’s free to use and there are video tutorials to help you learn how to make repairs.

Tools included on the “Dero Fix It”:

  • Cross head and flat head screwdrivers
  • Wrench
  • Tire levers
  • Hex wrench set
  • Universal air pump
  • Bike repair stand

This is a useful tool for students as well as a great way for WSU to encourage biking rather than driving as a more sustainable mode of transportation. See other ways people at WSU embrace sustainability.

Don’t have a bike?

WSU has a bike rental program! This program allows students and staff to rent a bike, helmet and bike lock for up to five hours at a time. All you need to do is head down to the Student Activity Center in the lower Kryzsko Commons and ask about the program. Remember to bring your student ID!

Biking is a great alternative to driving, especially in a smaller town like Winona. Biking helps you save money and exercise, so it’s a win-win!
