With the fall temperatures approaching we know one thing for certain that’s just around the corner– Homecoming.
This year, WSU’s Homecoming weekend is Oct. 5 – 6 with the theme of “Warrior Through Time.”
Here is a list of 8 things you should do Homecoming weekend to show your Warrior pride and enjoy what our beautiful river town has to offer.
1. Pep-Fest in the Courtyard
Come join WSU clubs, the football team, the spirit squads and President Olson on Friday, Oct. 5th at 12pm in the courtyard to show your school spirit and get pumped up for game day. The pep fest is also a great way to reach out to clubs you’re interested in joining while being a part of the exciting homecoming atmosphere.
2. Women’s Soccer Game
Come support the women’s soccer team as they play Augustana University on Friday, Oct. 5 at 2pm at the Altra Federal Credit Union Stadium.
If you can’t make it on Friday, the soccer team will play again on Sunday, Oct. 7 at 1pm against Wayne State College at the Altra Federal Credit Union Stadium.
3. Women’s Volleyball Game
After cheering on the soccer team, head on over to McCown Gym on Friday, Oct. 5th at 7pm to cheer on the volleyball team as they play Minnesota State University Moorhead.
The Warriors Volleyball team is also playing again Saturday, Oct. 6 at 5pm in McCown Gym against Northern State University.
4. Cal Fremling River Cruise
There’s nothing quite like a boat ride along the Mississippi. This cruise truly captures the beauty of the river town we call home. The ride aboard WSU’s Cal Fremling takes place on Friday, Oct. 5th at 3pm. The boat will be taking off at Levee Park. Please arrive 15 minutes early to board. The cost to ride is only $8 per person. You can preregister here. There is also a Saturday option at 12pm, to register click here.
5. Warrior Waddle
Start your morning off with a workout that gives back to WSU’s athletes. Proceeds from the run will go to Track and Field athletic scholarships. The 11th annual Warrior Waddle 5K will take place Saturday, Oct. 6th at 8am at Lake Park Lodge, East Lake Winona. To register, click here.
6. Warrior Game Day Experience
One of my favorite parts about Homecoming weekend is the atmosphere the Warrior Game Day Experience provides just before the big game. The event includes tons of pregame fun with food trucks, inflatables, giveaways, contests, and involvement from local businesses and student organizations. The Warrior Game Day Experience takes place Saturday, Oct. 6 from 11am to 2pm near the intersection of Johnson and Mark street.
7. Football Game
Homecoming isn’t complete without attending the football game. Don’t forget to wear your favorite purple and white gear as you cheer on the Warriors as they take on the University of Mary Saturday, Oct. 6 at 1pm at the Altra Federal Credit Union Stadium.
8. Homecoming Dance
Find a date or just go with a big group of friends to the homecoming dance Saturday, October 6 from 8-10pm at Talbot Gym.
Enjoy your Homecoming weekend, Warriors. Have a blast and stay safe!
