Studying abroad is something students come to Winona State for, but COVID-19 has kind of put a wrench in things. Don’t stress! We’ve got you covered with what you can do right now to get your ducks in a row. Then you can hit the ground running when it’s time to apply to your dream program.
5 Things to do if you’re looking to be a #WorldlyWarrior:
1) Attend the Study Abroad Fair
On Thursday, Sept. 9 from 11am-2pm in Kryzsko East Room, you’ll be able to learn about the different options for study abroad programs as a WSU student.
There will be information about semester study abroad programs, short-term faculty-led programs (those currently recruiting and general information about other active programs), study abroad scholarships, and internship abroad options. Students can talk with advisors, faculty, and study abroad alumni!
You may say, “But I’m not planning on studying abroad this year!”
We hear you! The good news is that this extra time gives you a great opportunity to ask questions and think about it before you make the leap to apply. If you’re thinking of exploring the world, why not explore the options too?
2) Explore the Study Abroad website
4) Schedule an advising session
Throw a time on your calendar to stop in for an advising session with Study Abroad staff and talk through options, ideas, and questions.
Whether you’ve got a solid idea of what you want to do or no clue at all, the study abroad team will make sure you’re taken care of at any point of the study abroad exploration journey.
The study abroad office is offering in-person and virtual meetings. Email them at email@example.com get something scheduled.
5) Talk to your academic advisor about timing and coursework to take abroad
Your academic advisor may suggest a course that could meet a requirement or a unique experience you may not have known about yet!
Winona State prides itself on not only having plenty of immersive experiences for students, but supportive faculty and staff ready to make it happen. If you’re looking to study abroad and travel the world, you’ve got a pack of Warriors ready to support you. All we ask is that you take some photos along the way!
