The feeling of getting lost in a piece of music and letting my body roam freely is like no other, not to mention the rush of performing in front of an audience.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">As a dance minor and someone who greatly appreciates live dance performances, I couldn\u2019t be happier about the 30th year anniversary of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.winona.edu\/dancescape\/\">Dancescape<\/a> here at Winona State. It\u2019s been an inspiration for her to see the hunger all the students have for dance. There has been an evolution with the growth of students through the past years and each year has been reflective of the particular time period.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The Dancescape performances reveal what\u2019s relevant today, including recognizing issues or those that are coming out \u201cunder the surface.\u201d Cohenhour is proud of the accomplishments students have made and how hard they have worked on the production. I was new to Winona State, and I declared a dance minor. It\u2019s about making sure the dancers are seen and that movement is shown through the light. That\u2019s not something I do ever outside of Dancescape, so it\u2019s always a good opportunity to play around with,\u201d said fifth-year student Cameron Lornston.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Peggy Sannerud, stage and production manager, said dance is an abstract art and \u201cso is lighting design.\u201d Both use a lot of the same vocabulary: tempo, rhythm, crescendo and shift. It\u2019s this strong and beautiful plant, but it blooms all on one day. Then the plant itself sticks around for a long time. I got my title and inspiration from that.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Other students, like Linna, are in multiple dance performances. \u201cI am in five pieces,\u201d she said, \u201cbut I think there are a lot of ways the choreographers are expressing themselves this year. You see a lot of different parts in them and their dancers.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>So, what can the audience take away from Dancescape this year and the 30<\/b><b>th<\/b><b> anniversary?<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cIt exposes you to a different kind of fine art,\u201d Lornston said. \u201cI don\u2019t think many people go and see dance productions specifically very often. It\u2019s a good entry-level experience for someone. It\u2019s a good \u2018get your toes in the water\u2019 sort of thing.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Stafford agrees and says it\u2019s a very \u201cdiverse\u201d show this year.
