Welcome to Fall 2020, a semester unlike any other!\u00a0<\/span>Amid the mix of excitement and uncertainty, w<\/span>e<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>are so\u00a0<\/span>happy\u00a0<\/span>you are<\/span>\u00a0here<\/span>!<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>We\u2019re\u00a0<\/span>n<\/span>avigat<\/span>ing<\/span>\u00a0the pandemic<\/span>\u00a0as best we can,\u00a0<\/span>and we know you are too.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

While there<\/span>\u00a0are<\/span>\u00a0still a lot of\u00a0<\/span>unknowns<\/span>,\u00a0<\/span>w<\/span>e<\/span>\u2019ve<\/span>\u00a0gathered\u00a0<\/span>everything we know in\u00a0<\/span>one<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>place<\/span><\/a>, and will continue to stay in close communication<\/span>\u00a0with you<\/span>\u00a0this semester as we ride<\/span>\u00a0out<\/span>\u00a0the<\/span>se<\/span>\u00a0cha<\/span>llenges, together.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Classes<\/span><\/a>\u00a0this year will be offered in three formats: in-person, online, and hybrid, which is a mix of in-person and online. For our newest Warriors,<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>Welcome week<\/span><\/a>\u00a0will have a mix of in-person and online activities to help you get to know campus and meet your classmates. We encourage all students to join a\u00a0<\/span>student club<\/span><\/a>\u00a0to connect with students who share your interests. Student clubs and organizations can still meet, do activities and host events, if they follow the new\u00a0<\/span>health and safety guidelines<\/span><\/a>.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

If you have symp<\/span>toms, you can call Ask-A-Nurse at 507.457.2292 to discuss your symptoms with a health professional.\u00a0<\/span>They may recommend that you get tested for COVID-19.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>Testing will be available at WSU Health & Wellness Services.\u00a0<\/span>O<\/span>ur\u00a0<\/span>residence halls are prepared to support students who need to self-isolate.\u00a0<\/span>We suggest having\u00a0<\/span>pandemic-specific items<\/span><\/a>\u00a0<\/span>on hand\u00a0<\/span>in case you need to quarantine at some point<\/span>.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

We have a\u00a0<\/span>plan prepared<\/span>\u00a0for when the pandemic subsides, and we can lift precautions. We also have a plan prepared for increased outbreaks that requires additional measures to protect the health and safety of our community.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

We hope we don\u2019t need the latter plan,\u00a0<\/span>which is why we\u2019re encouraging everyone to mask up and do their part to help create the best-case scenario.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Yes. The state of Minnesota, the cities of Winona and Rochester, and the WSU\u00a0<\/span><\/span>campus<\/span><\/span>es<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span>all have mask requirements that require all of us to wear masks when inside buildings. WSU requires we wear masks outside if we\u2019re within six feet of other people<\/span><\/span>\u00a0— a good guideline to practice off-campus as well.\u00a0<\/span><\/span>WSU is providing a mask to every student and employee. On-campus students will get masks from their hall director.\u00a0<\/span><\/span>Mask distributions<\/span><\/span><\/a>\u00a0will be held on both campuses Aug. 24-28<\/span><\/span>.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

We\u2019re counting on every Warrior to do their part to help stop the spread of COVID-19 in our campus community. Each day, we are asking everyone to follow WSU\u2019s mask policy and\u00a0<\/span><\/span>health and safety guidelines<\/span><\/span><\/a>. All students taking on-campus classes must take the\u00a0<\/span><\/span>daily self-assessment<\/span><\/span>\u00a0every day before coming to campus to screen for COVID-19 symptoms.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span>

We\u2019ve\u00a0<\/span><\/span>reconfigured campus<\/span><\/span><\/a>\u00a0spaces to support physical distancing, provided sanitizing stations in every classroom, set up outdoor classrooms, and leveled up our cleaning protocols.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
