This is also a great time to stay healthy and relax out in the nice weather, but also keep active. Here are some great ways to do just that:

1) Rollerblade or bike around the lake with friends

Or alone with some headphones! This is a fun way to work out without really feeling like you’re working out. On a nice summer day, this is a must.

2) Go on a walk outside with your dog

It’s the perfect time to stay active with your best friend (your pet) because summertime is beautiful here in the Midwest and it’s the perfect temperature for a stroll. Even just something as simple as walking outside gives you a bit of exercise and some fresh air.

3) Eat a lot of fruits!

‘Tis the season for all of the best fruits to be fresh in stores and there are so many ways to make them taste amazing and nourish your body at the same time! Smoothies with fresh fruits are one of my favorite small breakfast or mid-day snack choice.

4) Hike

The Winona and La Crosse area have some great hiking trails for anything ranging from a light work out to a high intensity hike. Great for a nice day with friends or family or again, your pet!

5) Quick home workouts

This is one of my favorite things to do in the summer because when I am busy working all day or I just feel like being lazy and relaxing on the couch, a quick home workout even in front of the TV is beneficial. This can include 30 second ab workouts, laying down leg lifts or planks and pushups.

6) Drink lots of water!

Hydration is key. Especially during a hot summer day! The more water intake the better. It will give you more energy and make your body and skin feel and look healthier.

7) Eat breakfast every day

This one is important and I’m guilty of skipping this meal if I’m ever in a rush or wake up at noon. It’s so easy to skip and forget about breakfast, but it really is the most important meal of the day. If you wake up at a decent hour and get up to embrace the day, start with breakfast and you will feel much better and have a lot more energy.

8) Treat yourself

Although it’s important to eat well and exercise, treat yourself to ice cream or some more relaxation while you’re enjoying your summer vacation.
