There are many places you can choose from on campus. If you’re like me, then it’s easy to get distracted by any noise or activity around you. If this is the case, then the third floor of the library might be the place for you. It’s the quietest floor on the library, and there are little tables throughout the floor that make studying more comfortable.

If the library is not for you and you can’t get studying done at home, you should try the Baldwin Lounge. It is quieter than the Smaug area and the chairs are comfier than most of the chairs at the library. The nice part about studying at the library or Baldwin is that food is nearby at both locations! You don’t need to leave the building to grab a bite when you have the Smaug and Coffee & Bagels.

There is also the option to create your own study space. Find a comfy chair or a space to spread out all of your work in an organized matter. This will help you relax and stay focused. The main thing to do is avoid studying in your bed.

Once you have found a space, it’s important you stay focused. If you have a bad habit of checking social media while doing your homework, try using a site like SelfControl. This site blocks websites for certain periods of time so will not get distracted and can get your work done.

Another helpful site to use when studying is Cram, which is similar to Quizlet. Instead of spending hours writing out flashcards and wasting notecards, use this site to study and also quiz yourself. Cram allows you to create, use and search flashcards, and it also offers an app.

If flashcards aren’t your thing, try actually writing out your study guide. I used to always just read through guides and think I knew the answers. However, this assumption made me do worse on exams. If your professor does not give you a study guide, make your own from your notes and assigned chapters in your textbook. Either way, you will get a better understanding of the material.

Finals can include more than just taking exams; sometimes you will have a presentation…or three. Prezi can help you put together an awesome presentation and will really make your project stand out. Once your presentation is complete, run through it to a pretend audience. This will help you know the material you are learning and become more confident teaching it to your real audience.

These are only a few tips to help you out with studying and there are tons of other useful websites for students you should take a look at. I think we can all agree finals came up faster than most of expected and it’s going to be a stressful time. But, we will all get through it, and by the time December 8 rolls around you’ll be free as a bird.

Good luck, Warriors!

Finals are less than a week away, and that means long nights are in store for many of us.
