Maybe you\u2019re going to party with friends, go to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.winona.edu\/sal\/game-day.asp\">Game Day Experience<\/a> or swing by the football game. Whatever you do, make sure you are taking plenty of precautions to stay safe and be responsible!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Party Safely<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/media.giphy.com\/media\/1k03DWas9bfbYcbb33\/giphy.gif\" alt=\"Safety First\" width=\"478\" height=\"392\" \/><\/p>\n<p>If you are over 21 and are choosing to drink alcohol this weekend, have a game plan for how you are going to get home and how much you are planning on drinking. Setting these plans up only help you stay safer in the long run. Take a look at <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.winona.edu\/campus-life\/2018\/10\/05\/how-to-party-smartly\/\">How to Party Smartly<\/a> if you need a quick refresher.<\/p>\n<p><em>*Remember, if you are under 21 and are drinking, you could receive a ticket for underaged drinking if you are caught!*<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Street Smarts!<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/media.giphy.com\/media\/WqG5KwJqqrPPi\/giphy.gif\" alt=\"John Mullaney\" width=\"340\" height=\"189\" \/><\/p>\n<p>When you are walking, try to use the buddy system! Don\u2019t walk alone, especially at night. Use crosswalks, don\u2019t run into traffic, walk on streets with lights on them; these feel like things I shouldn\u2019t have to remind you about, but I am because <em>safety is important<\/em>! Being safe on the streets lessens the risk for injury!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Hosting a gathering?<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/media.giphy.com\/media\/9rMvwuIpMBKU0\/giphy.gif\" alt=\"Monsters University GIF\" width=\"330\" height=\"184\" \/><\/p>\n<p>If you are throwing a party, you should tell your landlord. It\u2019s easier to let them know ahead of time than to have them find out after getting a noise complaint. P.S. If there\u2019s any damage \u2013 know you are going to be responsible for it, not some random person who showed up at your party by accident.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Be respectful of other\u2019s property!<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/media.giphy.com\/media\/yCAoGdVUCW5LW\/giphy.gif\" alt=\"Kid with Respect Hat\" width=\"480\" height=\"262\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Your neighbors should not have to clean up after you. There is something about the fall air that makes people think it is okay to take things from other people\u2019s yards. I\u2019m telling you, do not steal from your neighbors. Also, don\u2019t leave cans, bottles, or any other trash on the street! Save the Turtles!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>A few final thoughts, although this is a time for celebration&#8211;make sure you are being safe and making smart decisions. Look out for one another, and make some memories.
