To give you an idea of how the pandemic has impacted mental health<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">, among adults,\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.mhanational.org\/issues\/state-mental-health-america\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">screening for depression increased 62% and screening for anxiety increased 93%<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0from 2019 to 2020.<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335551550&quot;:1,&quot;335551620&quot;:1,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Mental Health\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">impacts everyone, including students at Winona State University.\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">At WSU<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">,<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">39.3%\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">of<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0students reported being diagnosed with at least one mental health condition (data from 2018 Boynton Survey).<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">If you are struggling with any of these conditions, know that you are not alone and there are resources at WSU to help you.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335551550&quot;:1,&quot;335551620&quot;:1,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>[\/et_pb_blurb][\/et_pb_column][\/et_pb_row][et_pb_row column_structure=&#8221;2_5,3_5&#8243; _builder_version=&#8221;4.8.1&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221;][et_pb_column type=&#8221;2_5&#8243; _builder_version=&#8221;4.8.1&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221;][et_pb_blurb title=&#8221;What is Sadness? &#8221; image=&#8221;https:\/\/blogs.winona.edu\/wellness\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2021\/02\/BlogGraphics-05.png&#8221; admin_label=&#8221;What is Sadness? When I am feeling sad, I like to remind myself that every emotion I have serves a purpose and that I\u2019m feeling that emotion for a reason. Specifically, depression is a mood disorder that causes persistent feelings of sadness and loss of interest. A good way to understand depression is to think of it as a group of conditions that can range from major depressive disorder to bipolar disorder. These types of feelings can stem from all kinds of things; maybe you are disappointed with your performance on an exam, or hurt by something you witnessed, experienced, or saw on social media.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">There are many scenarios that can trigger these feelings.\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">I<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">t is important to know that these feelings are normal and experienced by everyone at one time or another.
