Last month, WSU-Rochester sponsored “Fostering Resiliency in the Middle,” a two-part workshop with professional trainer Sandy Anderson to serve businesses and organizations navigating the challenges of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
Anderson helped the professionals in attendance begin to develop a framework to engage their people, strengthen their workplace cultures, focus on relevancy, and support solutions for sustainable outcomes.
The discovery and naming of losses, gaps and gains in the middle of a challenge creates a space to leverage that learning for the greater good versus lose it and potentially lose team engagement as we do what we do… because we’ve always done it that way.
My hope is that participants left with relevant ideas and questions to facilitate crucial conversations in their organizations, or even their families, that can change what the other side of any challenge looks like.
Winona State is dedicated to helping local organizations discover new perspectives and tools through professional development and training.
Our workshop with Sandy Anderson was a great demonstration of how WSU and WSU-Rochester serve the current and evolving needs of business professionals in the region.
More than 20 local professionals participated in the workshops representing industries including healthcare, government, nonprofit, retail, hospitality, finance, and construction. One attendee shared, “I found this workshop to be so re-affirming and supportive, and I learned a lot to apply in my life and work.”
In her role as Business Outreach Coordinator for WSU, Julie Kiehne provides customized training solutions in the Rochester community and throughout WSU’s service region.
The positive response to this local event has led to plans for more professional development workshops in Rochester focused on helping the business community continue to thrive through the pandemic and beyond.
