Fitness Center

Winona State’s triple-decker fitness center is your ultimate exercise hub. Achieve your healthiest self with our wide array of equipment and machines no matter which floor you’re on:

  • First floor: free weights, Olympic lifting platforms, and cable machines
  • Second floor: treadmills, ellipticals, rowing machines, and open courts for basketball, volleyball or intramural play
  • Third floor: stationary bikes and a running track—10 times around is one mile

Most of our cardio machines have cable TV connected to them. That means you can watch your favorite show while getting your blood pumping. There’s also a ledge for you to rest your phone or laptop on if you’d rather watch something else.

Improve your strength with the help of an approved personal trainer.

Sign up for intramural teams and sports clubs to unleash the beast year-round.

Fitness Studio

Looking for a fun workout? Join in on free group fitness classes offered year-round in our studio.

We offer about 20 different classes each week, meaning you’ll have lots of options to choose from regardless of your schedule.

From yoga and PiYo to Butt N’ Gut and RIP’T to HIIT the Core and boxing—there’s a fitness class for everyone to find their inner Warrior.

Warrior Cupboard

If you or someone you know is on a tight budget and ends up skipping meals, we have our very own resource center. The Warrior Cupboard carries non-perishable food and hygiene products.

This stockpile of goods is available for any WSU student who may be struggling with finances and affording healthy groceries while pursuing their education.

The Warrior Cupboard is fully funded through student and faculty support by donations and volunteering.

Athletic Hall of Fame

Wanna take a trip down memory lane? Our Athletic Hall of Fame displays the past accomplishments of all our Warrior Athletes and teams.

The WELL

Whether you’re in the mood to learn how to find balance in your life or you’re in need of a place to relax and study, the WELL is the perfect spot for you.

WELL stands for Wellness, Education, Leadership, and Leisure.

This space does a lot of partnerships with Health & Wellness Services and Counseling Services. The WELL is your hub for health and wellness programs that cover a variety of topics, from safe sex to healthy eating.

The Green Bandana Project is a popular campaign that provides mental health support. Take the pledge and a green bandana to show your support for those in our community who may be going through a tough time.

If you see a bandana on someone’s backpack, it’s a sign of solidarity. You are not alone—we are here for you.

The OASIS Advocacy Center also provides support and resources for survivors of gender-based violence (GBV). Warriors look out for one another, and GBV is no exception.

McCown Gymnasium

As part of General Education requirements, you must take at least two credits’ worth of Physical Education. The McCown Gymnasium is a popular location for PE classes.

This open gym is also a common space for intramural and club sport competition.

Additionally, the McCown Gymnasium hosts men’s and women’s Division-II basketball and volleyball games during the fall and wintertime.

All WSU students get into home sporting events for free, so show your Warrior Pride! Visitors can purchase tickets at the ticket window located outside the gym.

Our NCAA Division-III Women’s Gymnastics team has a renovated practice facility at the end of this gym, as well.

Fun Fact

The McCown Gymnasium is where you’ll start and end your career as a Warrior.

This space is where you’ll be welcomed during Orientation Week. This same space is where you’ll receive your diploma during your commencement ceremony.
