Winona State University is known for high-quality academic programs and natural beauty surrounding us. But it’s also the people on our campuses, the personal connections that students build with faculty, staff and friends that truly makes WSU a community of learners.
That’s certainly true for these alumni as they think back on their experiences at WSU.
I chose Winona State University because of the personalized attention I received on my campus visit. The president of the college saw me walking and recognized I was unsure of where to go. He personally walked me to the admissions office.
In addition, I was blown away by the personalized attention I received from my Communication Studies program chair. I immediately felt at home and knew WSU was the perfect fit for me. This was the best decision I ever made for myself. My professors truly cared about my success and about me as a person.
My CMST degree made me very marketable in a challenging job market. My career success is truly tied to my degree from WSU.
My experiences at WSU were excellent. For someone who has switched their major twice, I managed to graduate on time with the help of the academic advisers who truly cared about the individual that I had the potential to become. All three programs that I was a part of had tremendous caring professional faculty members who devoted a great deal of time towards their students to make sure they succeed.
Outside academics, the possibilities are endless. For a small town, Winona offers enough activities to keep you engaged ever single weekend.
I attended another University for the first two years of my bachelor’s degree, and WSU was much more a community amongst the students and staff than my other university was. Students in my department seemed to hold themselves to a higher standard and were always willing to help each other out and root for peers’ success.
The professors I had at WSU were more than encouraging and willing to assist any student with an issue or question, whether relating to school or personal troubles. WSU felt like home– the only decision I regret is not transferring there sooner than I did. Go Warriors!
My experience at Winona State life-changing from the first time I stepped on campus. I felt very welcome by professors, students and athletes as I started my experience. All of my teachers were willing to go the extra mile to make sure I had the tools to be successful!
Playing football also gave me another group of friends who became my second family. I try to explain how my experience at Winona State was above and beyond anything I hear about from my high school friends. It is always wonderful to return to Winona to re-live my experience and see old friends!
The professors at WSU got to know me, and they pushed me to grow academically and personally. The opportunities I’ve had at WSU have helped me become a great teacher. The professors always supported me and believed in me.
Participating in opportunities like the Bush Grant, traveling to Alabama, and outdoor learning has impacted my profession as well as me personally.
