Now that classes have started and you’re back on campus for the Fall, you may be wondering what activities you can do.

The reality is that we’re all adjusting to some new changes because of COVID-19, but there are still plenty of outdoor activities that are both fun and safe.

To give you a better idea, here’s a list of some physically distant activities you can enjoy right on our beautiful campus.

1. Hammock between the trees

What better way to study, hang out, read, or relax than in a hammock?

You’ll find that just about any spot you pick around campus to set up your hammock will do, but I’d say the best place is between Kryzsko Commons and Minné Hall.

In fact, hammocking on campus may be one of the best—and most relaxing—physically distant activities. I mean come on, you’re literally cocooned under the sun. Life can’t get any better!

2. Play with a frisbee

Gather your floor and/or roommates and play a game of frisbee on Somsen lawn.

The Somsen lawn has plenty of green space to invite new (or existing) friends to play a quick round.

It doesn’t take much effort to get everyone together for a safe game with a little friendly competition.

3. Study outside

If your class schedule is predominantly online and you want a change of scenery to study, then I suggest you snag a table outside the Kryzsko Solarium.

You’ll feel connected because it’s near the center of campus, but please be aware of the safety risk you take when you’re amongst your peers.

Take advantage of this great study spot while we still have warm weather!

4. Host your own book club

So, you’ve had a book that you’ve been wanting to read and now have lots of time on your hands. Take a break and host your own book club.

Of course, you could host it at the Krueger Library. You don’t have to worry about the logistics of physically distancing because seating is already arranged for students to meet safely.

On another note, if you’re looking to get some vitamin D, take it outside. Around the Clock Tower or at the Memorial Hall garden might be some good places to scout.

First, find a place to meet. Then gather your members and read away.

5. Show your Warrior Pride

Time to show off your Warrior Pride! Offer to take a friend’s photos around campus with Warrior apparel and have a fun photoshoot.

When you’re done, you can enter to win prizes for #WSUPurpleFridays.

The best part about this list is that these aren’t the only things to do on campus while keeping your physical distance.

When thinking of other things to do on campus, please keep the safety risks in mind:

Be creative and find the activities that you enjoy the most. But more importantly, be open to making memories. So, invite friends to explore campus—you won’t be let down!
