The week of final exams is bound to be a little stressful. While some of us relieve stress by going for a walk, listening to music or maybe even crying (in moderation, of course), the rest of us choose to eat until our hearts are content (myself included!).

Thankfully, WSU recognizes this and wants to provide you with yummy food options to help curb your finals stress. The best part? It’s all free!

Check out this list of three opportunities for you to score free food on campus while providing yourself with brain power to get through your exams.

1.  Food & Finals

Looking for a warm, home-cooked meal to comfort your nerves? Take a stroll to the Student Center (located at 402 Main St.) for Food & Finals hosted by the WSU campus ministry Chi Alpha. Food & Finals will take place Sunday, Dec. 8 – Tuesday, Dec. 10, and meals will be served at 6 p.m. each night.

The nightly menu breakdown is as follows:

  • Sunday:  Soup and Chili Bar (provided by Watermark Church)
  • Monday:  Taco Bar (provided by the Paydons)
  • Tuesday:  Homemade Mac N’ Cheese and Sloppy Joes (provided by Root River Church)

You can also bring any non-perishable food items with to contribute to their food drive. No worries if you don’t have any, though, because donations are not required to attend Food & Finals.

The Chi Alpha Student Center will be open for studying, free snacks and coffee before and after dinner—all WSU students are welcome to come, even if you’re not affiliated with Chi Alpha!

2.  Pizza from the President

Need a quick study break and something to munch on for extra fuel? Lucky for you, President Olson’s got your back! Head on over to the Darrell Krueger Library on Monday, Dec. 9, from 6 – 8 p.m. and enjoy a fresh slice or two of yummy pizza.

President Olson will be providing 100 free pizzas from a few locally owned pizza places here in Winona, including Rocco’s, Sammy’s and Zaza’s. There will be a variety of flavors, including options for students with dietary restrictions. Pizzas will be handed out throughout the night, so make sure to get your piece(s) during your study break to ensure you’ll be well-rounded and prepared for your exams.

3.  Late Night Breakfast

Now that you’ve indulged on a couple slices of pizza, make your way to the Jack Kane or Lourdes Dining Center on Tuesday, Dec. 10, from 9 – 11 p.m. for a free serving of breakfast. All you need is your student ID to enter—it’s just to keep track of attendance.

Bring your besties or study group along and enjoy a plate of scrambled eggs, french toast, donut holes, sausage and tater tots while jamming out to DJ-selected tunes in the dimmed cafeteria. Bon appétit!

Well, there you have it—make sure you study hard for your exams, Warriors, and also take care of yourselves during finals week!
