COVID-19 Case Update

During the past week, 22 new positive cases of COVID-19 were reported (up from 15) for a current total of 37 active positive cases (up from 23).

The total number of students on- and off-campus who are currently quarantining stands at 42, with those currently isolating at 62.

The university remains in Level 2 (Yellow) of its Campus Safety Levels. See more details on WSU’s COVID-19 dashboard.

Two-Week Self-Imposed Quarantine & COVID-19 Testing

Starting Monday, Nov. 16, WSU Administration will enact a 14-day self-imposed campus quarantine in an effort to reduce the number of people physically present on campus for the next two weeks and deter the spread of COVID-19 over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend.

This self-imposed quarantine limits all non-essential activities for the next two weeks. In-person classes, work, and obtaining food are considered essential and will continue.

Additionally, the Minnesota Department of Health is urging all college and university students to get tested prior to the Thanksgiving holiday or other opportunities to gather.

The MDH believes the possibility of continued spread of the virus as young people visit family and friends for Thanksgiving poses a serious risk.

Mental Health Check-In

When we’re busy all the time with deadlines and exams, with work, even with fun things like chatting with friends and scrolling social media, it’s easy to lose touch with yourself.

WSU Counselor Mick Lynch explains how to check in with yourself in just three simple steps:

  1. Pause
  2. Breathe
  3. Focus

Check in on your thoughts, your emotions and your physical body to recognize when something isn’t right and figure out what you need.
