Though the semester only just started, everyone’s looking forward to a three-day weekend. If you’re sticking around Winona, here are a few ideas of things to do over Labor Day weekend this year.

There are events and outings on Friday, Saturday and all weekend long– all of which take COVID-19 precautions into consideration.

Dine Out Downtown

Friday Evening

Enjoy a stroll and some shopping during Dine Out Downtown.  Streets are blocked off, so there’s no traffic, plus extra space for restaurants and retail stores to expand outside

Farmer's Market

Saturday Morning

Visit the Farmer’s Market for some fresh produce & homemade products like bread, baked good, honey and more.

Minnesota Marine Art Museum

All Weekend

Take a tour of the Minnesota Marine Art Museum and see from world-famous artists such as Picasso, Renoir and Monet. It costs just $3 for students to enjoy these beautiful masterpieces.

And you can get free bus transportation on Friday and Saturday by calling the Winona City Transit Dispatch at 507.454.6666 to arrange a pick-up time and location.

If you’re up for a bit of bike ride, the museum does have a bike rack outside.

Frozen River Film Festival Screening

All Weekend

Watch a virtual screening of the short film that was featured in the Frozen River Film Festival.

The film, “Maternity for a Weekend” was created by the talented WSU student filmmaker Brynn Artley. Learn more about Brynn’s experience with the Frozen River Film Festival.

Bike by the Water

All Weekend

In these last days of summer, it’s the perfect time to bike around the lakes or down through Levee Park.

Need to borrow a bike? WSU’s Bike Rental program has you covered.

Hike the Bluffs

All Weekend

Explore the hiking trails to Garvin Heights or head straight to the top of Sugar Loaf Bluff.

Whether you head out in the morning, mid-afternoon or in the golden sunset hour, the views from the bluffs are always breathtaking.
