“Inclusion, it Doesn’t Happen by Accident”
About the Event
Community Creative Achievement Day is a virtual symposium that unites WSU-Rochester and Graduate Studies students and faculty.
The first CCAD was held on April 16, 2020 at the start of the global COVID-19 pandemic. Though the inaugural event was initially planned to be held in-person at our WSU-Rochester on Broadway campus suite, we quickly moved to transform this event into a virtual symposium. The virtual format continued with our second annual CCAD held on April 15, 2021. Due to the popularity, efficiency, and accessibility of this virtual format, the CCAD will now be organized as an online event. The third annual CCAD will be held on April 21, 2022.
At the event, Winona State University students and faculty will meet on Zoom to present their academic research and community service projects throughout the afternoon. They will also be answering community questions and joining in conversations about their work.
The CCAD 2022 will begin with a keynote speech by Audrey Betcher, the recently retired Director of the Rochester Public Library. Betcher will be giving a presentation titled Inclusion, it Doesn’t Happen by Accident, which will highlight how the Rochester Public Library actively promoted inclusion within their institution and the community. We hope this keynote address will help challenge us to expand inclusivity within our academic and community work.
About the Keynote Speaker
Audrey Betcher recently retired from the Rochester Public Library where she was director for 22 years. Prior to working at RPL, Audrey managed a computer system for public and school libraries in southeastern Minnesota. She also worked for a library automation vendor in St. Louis. She continues to be involved in the community through volunteering: Rotary (where she is currently President), Ready to Lead Leadership Team, and Rochester Reading Champions.
