Did you know that WSU offers free evening fitness classes on campus every night of the week? In fact, WSU is offering three brand new fitness classes this semester!
This week, I attended one of the three new classes being offered called “HIIT the Core.”
“HIIT the Core” is a High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) workout with an emphasis on working your abdominals and core. A HIIT workout alternates between bursts of very intense activity and periods of rest.
As I was walking into this new class, I didn’t know what to expect. In the past, I have gone to many of the fitness classes offered here at WSU, but I had no idea what this class was going to be like.
As it turns out, the “HIIT the Core” class is very much like a class offered last year called, “Abs of Steel.” The “HIIT the Core” class consisted of four circuits of various positions, both standing and sitting, that targeted your core and abs.
At times, we used a single weight, but we were always given the choice of whether we wanted to use the weight or not. The weight was just there to increase the difficulty of a certain position if we were feeling up to a challenge.
All evening fitness classes offered at WSU are only an hour in length. This week, I was all sweaty by the end of the hour and my abs were incredibly sore the next day. Despite being sweaty and sore, I could feel the result of my hard work after attending just one class. I have fallen in love with this new class and I am excited to go back next week!
So, Warrior, if you want to hit the core, I highly recommend that you go to the IWC fitness studio on Mondays and Wednesdays at 4:00 p.m. for this new class, “HIIT the Core.”
If the type of training used in this class doesn’t excite you, I would encourage you to check out the full list of weekly WSU fitness classes. WSU offers about twenty different classes per week!
Stay tuned for more reviews of the other new fitness classes in the coming weeks!
